Reviewer: darin,
The RAD 1105 pro mechanic bike stand is a excellent addition to my garage. My kids race bmx bikes and you know what that means...lots of maintenence, cleaning and repair. we have 4 different sizes of bmx bikes and they all fit on this awesome rack. It is easy to get them on and clamped down tight. The stand holds the bikes stable for cleaning and all major and minor repairs. We are always on the top of the podium at the track and looking the best around the neighborhood. I have even got my beach cruizer on the rack and tuned up. My friend is a mountain bike racer and he has a RAD pro bike stand as well. I had to have one after I borrowed his. I would highly reccomend it to anyone.

I'm giving this a 5-star rating because it does exactly what it's supposed to do for much less money than the other options available.

This turned out to be a good buy. I was a little concerned because of the negative reviews that others had previously posted, especially with regard to their bikes not fitting the stand. I found this to be no problem for me. We have two inexpensive mountain-bike style bikes; they both fit the stand very well and are held firmly in place during maintenance.

1. The stand is sturdy. It doesn't rock around, the components can be tightened down securely.

2. Some of the threaded parts do have paint on the threads that have to be cleared by screwing in the matching threaded bolt, but this was no big deal. If you want smooth operation, lubricate the threads with a little oil.

3. The tool tray can get in the way of rotating the pedals if it gets turned sideways. However, it is easily removed and need not be installed at all, your choice.

4. The stand can be set to three or four different heights by placing a cross bolt at different heights on the main post. The upper half of the main post will sit on the bolt at the height you choose, and the upper half is notched so that the upper and lower halves always align properly for maximum stability.

5. The clamps (two for the frame and one to hold the front wheel aligned) were perfect for our bikes. If your bike has an oversized diameter frame or a tiny diameter frame, you might run into a problem but you should be able to modify the clamp as needed with a little ingenuity and a trip to your well-stocked hardware store.

This stand is $40 dollars, compared to $100 plus for the others. It works fine. Spend the other $60 on some specialty bicycle tools to go with your new stand. I definitely recommend this stand -- for the price it's a no-brainer. If you are a serious mechanic or serious cycler, perhaps it would make sense to spend the money for the higher-end stands.

Reviewer: savvy buyer,
i'm a proud owner of this product. i purchased mine about a year ago. sure, there are many other bike stands available with tons of bells and whistles and if i owned a 2000 dollar bicycle i may have opt for one of those instead. but i'm just a regular guy, with a regular family, of regular bikers with regular bikes that from time to time need to have flats fixed, tires change, tighten this or that, make some miner adjustments and do a good cleaning once in a while. i was in the market for something simple, light weight, and inexpensive (bingo)! my "rad bike stand" was worth a shot. it has not disappointed me in the least. in fact it has more than paid for it self with the first couple of flat repairs i made. do you know what bike shops charge for flat repairs??? not to mention the inconvenience. so, for my family and i, this was a near perfect fit. i hope in some way or another this honest review help someone with their decision process. good luck and happy trails.
